November 25, 1924: Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, wife of the President, christens the airship ZR-3 as the USS Los Angeles at the Naval Air Station, Anacostia, VA. As part of the ceremony it is commissioned a ship of the Fleet, with Capt. G. W. Steele commanding.
