1938 Penn Yan 18 foot Luxury Runabout. Powered by a Gray 45. The Penn Yan Boat Company was a highly regarded American boat builder founded in 1921 by Charles A. Herrmann in Penn Yan, New York. Operating out of its Waddell Avenue factory until closing its doors in 2001, the company built a worldwide reputation for craftsmanship, evolving from legendary canvas-wrapped wooden hulls to innovative fiberglass designs.

Powered by a Gray 45. The Gray Marine 45 hp marine engine, most commonly known as the Gray Marine "Phantom Four-45" (or simply the Model 4-45), is a classic vintage flathead gasoline engine produced by the renowned Gray Marine Motor Company.

Popular from the late 1930s through the 1950s, this engine was heavily utilized in lightweight runabouts, utilities, and small wooden boats built by iconic manufacturers like Lyman, Century, Chris-Craft, and Globe Mastercraft.
