Pattern Power Settings

Pattern Power Settings

Description

This lesson covers power settings for single engine aircraft with a constant speed prop while in the traffic pattern.

These are "reference" power settings and may need to be adjusted for actual conditions. When adjusting manifold pressure I suggest one inch at a time.

On downwind the landing checklist should be completed. Using a "flow" is fine as long as a checklist is reviewed to be sure you did not forget anything.

If flying a retract "gear down" should be checked multiple times throughout the pattern.
