Skooter Skate

Skooter Skate

Description

A vintage Skooter Skate . Technically, it was sold as a scooter with the option of removing the handle and using it as a skateboard, thus the name Skooter-Skate.

Part of the collection of Harry Kraemer's rare 3 wheel vehicles.

This one is in original unused condition with some scratches in the paint from storage. As of March 2021, we have two in the collection that still have the front handle on it and we have one that is just the skateboard.

This is also known as the Rocket Skooter Skate.

The prototype for the first skateboard was a bright red, metal toy from the 1930s called the Scooter Skate. When its handle was removed, a child could ride the three-wheeled contraption like a skateboard, except it had steel wheels and lacked the ability to turn. A four-wheeled Skeeter Skate appeared in the 1940s. It was only marginally better.
