July 2, 1952: The US Air Force discloses the existence of the Lockheed F-94C Starfire jet interceptor, the first Air Force a/c armed entirely with air-to-air rockets. The a/c has a crew of two and is capable of a maximum speed of 646 mph from its afterburning P&W J48-p-5 turbojet. The a/c is armed with 48 Mighty Mouse (2.75 in) aerial rockets.
