The year 1964 was a monumental milestone for Alfa Romeo, marked by the transition from the older Giulietta series to the legendary 105-series Giulia family and the introduction of highly successful racing homologation specials.

Sitting at the top of the lineup, the 2600 series carried a smooth inline-6 engine rather than the four-cylinders of the Giulia family, dressed in coachwork by Touring Superleggera (Spider) or Bertone (Sprint).
