Detailed Information
Engine Specs
It has the original Lauson 2.3 HP TLC 873307 Model 425 engine with kick-starter.

History records Lauson was founded in the late 1800’s, was purchased and re-organized in 1941, and later was dissolved by Tecumseh after it’s purchase in 1956. The company was originally formed by John Lauson in the late 1800’s and was named the John Lauson Manufacturing Company. In 1941 the company was re-organized through a purchase by Hart-Carter and was renamed the Lauson Manufacturing Company. Still later in 1956 Tecumseh purchased the company and with that purchase and the purchase of Power Products in the following year, the Tecumseh Power Division was formed. Tecumseh chose to dissolve both the Lauson Mfg. Co. and the Power Products Company, creating the Tecumseh Power Division from the remnants of the two.

The engine uses straight 30W oil. The manual says to use SAE No. 30 in the summer and SAE No. 20 in the winter. The manual says this regarding the oil level "Remove the oil filler plug and fill the crankcase until the oil is to the "F" mark on the dip stick. On a standard flat base engine, fill until the oil is level with the filler opening."

Spark plug gap is .023 to .025. The manual recommends using a Champion J-8 spark plug.

We are running TruFuel in the bike. It is ethanol-free.
