Our Market Watch section is an online searchable database and it is smart phone friendly. It was set up as a database for vehicle price data; however we have added other collectibles as well. For example, under “Make” you can search for Paul McCartney for price data related to Paul McCartney collectibles. You can also use the database to see what celebrity ownership of a vehicle does to the value. For example, under “Model” search for Trans Am, click here to view the results. You can also search the Market Watch for famous/well know collections that have sold, for example, here is the data for the Bruce Weiner Microcar Auction. And here is the data for the Lee Roy Hartung collection that sold years ago. We have also included price data from TV shows such as Jay Lenos Garage, American Pickers, and others, simply search under “Make” for Jay Lenos Garage and click on search. The database allows you to compare asking price, book value, actual sale price, etc. You can also view offers versus sale price. Click here to view offers versus sale price. The database includes aircraft, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, collectibles, avionics, engines, car parts, aircraft parts, and more.

Model Ts were hot-rodded and customized from the 1920s on, but the T-bucket was specifically created and named by Norm Grabowski in the 1950s. This car was named Lightning Bug, better known as the Kookie Kar, after being redesigned by Grabowski and appearing in the TV show 77 Sunset Strip, driven by character Gerald "Kookie" Kookson. The exposure it gained led to numerous copies being built.
A genuine T-bucket has the two-seater body of a Model T roadster (with or without the turtle deck or small pickup box), this "bucket"-shaped body shell giving the cars their name. A Model T-style radiator is usually fitted, and even these can sometimes be barely up to the task of cooling the large engines fitted. Windshields, when fitted, are vertical glass like the original Model T. |

Georges Rickenbacker |
2014 |
$657,000 |
Today’s “Beatles Instruments” are George’s Rickenbackers.
George picked up a 1962 Rickenbacker 425 in September 1963 for $400 at Fenton’s Music Store in Mount Vernon, Illinois during a two-week trip with his brother Peter to visit their sister, Louise in the US.
In Benton, George met Gabe McCarty of the Four Vests, a local music group that played popular standards. When George mentioned that he’d like to buy a Rickenbacker while in the States, McCarty drove him to nearby Mount Vernon and introduced him to Lester “Red” Fenton.
Red did have a Ric on hand- a single pickup 425 win Fire-glo. George admired the “cresting wave” solid body but wanted one in black to match John’s now painted 325, so the shopkeeper refinished the 425 in black and had it ready for George by the time he flew home the next week.
A few days later after his return, on October 4, he debuted the 425 on “Ready Steady, Go.” A couple weeks later it was seen again on the “Thank Your Lucky Stars” program.
After that, George used it for the Swedish tour in late October and the British tours in November and December.
When George was given a new Rick a few weeks later in New York, this one was retired, but apparently not forgotten. At some point, he added a second “toaster top” pickup and another switch and replaced the control knobs.
This instrument never became George’s favorite and in 1971, he gave it to George Peckham, a mate from Liverpool.
In 2014, the Rickenbacker 425 fetched $657,000 at auction.
The first Rickenbacker 12 string 360/12 was given to George from the Rickenbacker company in February 1964. The guitar is owned today by the Harrison family.
The second Rickenbacker 12 string 360/12 was a gift from radio station WDGY on August 21, 1965. George played it live on only one song, “If I Needed Someone”. The guitar was stolen from Abbey Road Studios in March 1969. |

Chieftain Special 8 Passenger Wagon |
1954 |
$8,500 |
Asking price posted on Facebook November 6 2022. 1954 Pontiac Chieftan · Wagon · Driven 89,152 miles.
1954 Pontiac Chieftan Special 8-passenger station wagon for sale. $8500. Located in Eureka Montana. Cool old wagon with the straight 8 engine and three on the tree manual transmission. This was originally a three seat car with the sliding rear windows by the third seat. Pontiac advertised them as an 8-passenger wagon, being able to haul 8 adults. The third seat is gone but it would be fairly easy to build a frame for a third seat. The car runs nice and does not smoke. Runs and drives and the brakes work. Transmission and clutch work great. It starts right up every time and idles smooth. It will need the usual maintenance adapter sitting for years. It also needs the fuel tank repaired, exhaust replaced, and the waterpump replaced or rebuilt. It has new tires and also comes with new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and installation kits. The brakes work now though. New throwout bearing. The body has no rust-though. See https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VYkNo09-yOUqt54JO69eJnzCzC0b8MKm/view?usp=share_link |
