Among motorcycles Morgans counterpart might be the Panther which from 1929 to 1966 concentrated on steady reliable touring machines that predominantly used proprietary single-cylinder engines as a stressed part of the frame. The ultimate Panther was the M120 introduced in 1959. Power was from a pushrod overhead valve single cylinder 649cc engine delivering a sedate 28 horsepower at 4500 rpm. It was installed in a frame adapted to a three-point mounted sidecar. On this 1962 Panther M120 a two place tandem seating Garrard sidecar with its own swing arm suspension and Armstrong shock absorbers is installed. Finished in black with black saddle and red sidecar upholstery the sidecar has a creative full convertible top that rolls back over side panels to adapt to the vagaries of British weather and is further adapted to family touring with a tidy little trunk area for luggage and a handily placed umbrella receptacle. Restored to very attractive standards throughout it runs and rides nicely and isnt likely to meet itself or anything similar at all but the most esoteric meeting of British motorcycles $34,500

Tradition taxation and a certain determined insensitivity to the dour elements of the British climate has produced some idiosyncratic British vehicles.
