{"id":1260,"date":"2016-01-18T18:42:41","date_gmt":"2016-01-18T23:42:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flymall.org\/blog\/?p=1260"},"modified":"2019-03-27T07:45:57","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T12:45:57","slug":"instrument-checkride-jan-2016-kthv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flymall.org\/blog\/2016\/01\/instrument-checkride-jan-2016-kthv\/","title":{"rendered":"Instrument Checkride Jan 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We started the oral exam by going over all the documents and&nbsp;paper work required for the check ride.<\/p>\n<p>The examiner then briefed me how the oral and practical parts of the check ride will proceed<\/p>\n<p>In the oral part of the exam we mainly spoke about the following subject (2 hours):<\/p>\n<p>Requirement to act as pilot in command under IFR-<\/p>\n<p>How I would check the GPS, VOR systems, and radio systems.-<\/p>\n<p>Pitot static system-how does it work &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>-Weather services- and then he asked me a few question about it like: What does it mean freezing level and why is it so important&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>-Approaches&nbsp;\u2013 We talked about the approach plate where can you find the approach plates, different circling scenarios, decent past the DA\/DH, etc.<\/p>\n<p>-Cross country planning \u2013 as part of the oral exam he asked me to plan a cross country flight from KTHV to KAGC with the current weather information and to decide if I need an alternate airport or not.<\/p>\n<p>The practical exam (1.4 Hobs):<\/p>\n<p>The examiner simulated clearance delivery from KHTV to KAGC based on the flight plan that I planned.<\/p>\n<p>We started with ILS 8 at KCXY and after that we did LOC 8 in KCXY.
